Direct debit types
With Direct debit, you can ensure that all your essential bills are paid promptly each month. The flexibility of direct debit accommodates varying amounts, making it a reliable choice for recurring payments.
Viewing Direct Debit Types
Select Sales / Direct Debit Types from the Setting section of the pulse menu -

Position of the menu items within pulse will vary according to available options and dependant on personal screen resolution.
or enter Direct debit types in the Quick Launch Side Menu.
This will then show the Direct debit types on the system.
Tip
To modify the columns displayed, select in the top right of the page, then tick/untick the information you want to see or not.
Create a new Direct debit type
Select Direct debit type from one of the options as shown above in Viewing Direct Debit Types.
Press New.
Enter data in the fields as appropriate.
Code: Unique code for Direct debit type.
Description: Free text description.
Direct debit class: Type of direct debit. This defines the different steps within the direct debit process.
Note
A SEPA Direct Debit works in a similar way as a Direct Debit in the UK. With SEPA you can pay bills in Euros to accounts held in the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA includes all countries in the EU plus Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Monaco.
Payment method: The payment method that the direct debit type is linked to. You could put link in here to payment methods help page.
Batch definitions: The number series that will be used for any direct debit batches created.
Default duration: The duration that the direct debit agreement is in place for.
Max validity (months):
Processing interface template: This is for specifying the interface required for direct debit file created from the system when processing a batch receipt. This will need to match with the format required for the bank being used.
New instructions: This is the communication to be used when sending an email out to a customer confirming the new instruction of the direct debit.
Select Create button to save.
