    What is Zapier?

    • Zapier is an iPaaS - Integration Platform as a Service

    • It's an online platform which will allow you to simplify the integration of software systems.

    • It will allow a customer to build their own integration between two or more software systems, like a self-service approach with low code or no code. It's an ideal approach for less technical users.

    There will be an additional cost associated with the use of Zapier.

    Terminology

    • App:

      • Allows Zapier user to connect Zapier to a software system.

      • An iplicit Zapier App has been created.

    • Trigger:

      • An event defined by an App.

      • Starts a Workflow in Zapier.

    • Action:

      • Defined by an App.

      • Finds: Read data from connected system.

      • Creates: Write data to connected system.

    • Zap:

      • Zapier's name for a Workflow.

      • A Trigger + Actions.

      • Customers can create Zaps using iplicit's App.

    When is Zapier a good fit?

    • Customer lacks in-house development skills

    • Simpler integration requirements

    • Third-party integration provider is excessive.

    • App exists for the other system(s).

    • Other App has suitable Triggers/Actions.

    How a customer connects to the iplicit Zapier app

    Prerequisites

    Before connecting, the customer must have:

    • A Zapier account (their own).

    • An iplicit API licence enabled.

    Create an API Key in iplicit

    In iplicit, go to User Accounts -

    • Create a dedicated Zapier user.

    • Generate an API key against that user.

    Get access to the iplicit Zapier app

    • The customer must provide their Zapier account email.

    • iplicit sends an invitation to the private iplicit Zapier app.

      Note

      The app is not public, so access is controlled via the invitation.

    Connect the app in Zapier

    Once invited:

    • The Customer selects the iplicit app in Zapier.

    • When prompted, they enter their API key.

    • This establishes the connection between Zapier and iplicit.
